I started this week out so good. I was totally on a roll with getting stuff done. I've got our quilt along ahead, blog posts done and scheduled. I was feeling really good about that one because usually I'm last minute sewing and posting the night before it's due!
But this has been the state of my cutting table since the weekend.
I saw the My Precious Quilt Along over at kelbysews and thought it would be a good idea to play along. So I pulled out my precious fabrics, Castle Peeps and Prince Charming, and got to work looking for something to make with them.
I started out with this with the Castle Peeps
And very quickly decided I wasn't loving them. They were a chore to make, time consuming and fabric wasting. And they weren't coming together the way I envisioned they would. So I scrapped that idea and went back to my original plan, something with wedges.
I have absolutely no idea where I'm going with these, I'm just haphazardly throwing them on the wall and moving them around every so often.
I have very high hopes that I'll figure something out in time for one of the link ups. If not, no biggie, I cut into them and that's half the battle!
I did find something to make with my Prince Charming stash and got to work
I only have these two blocks done so far. I pulled the tutorial for this block from here but Elizabeth has a paper pieced version if you're interested. I will be setting these on point and I'm trying to figure out the color layout before I go too much further. I know I don't want a random mish mash of them all.
Did you see the other little project I had on the wall? The one hanging out in the shadows down in the corner?
I went down to see my friend Rhonda, the one who opened up the awesome new, modern quilt shop in town? I just so happened to pop in on the day the Moda rep was there, I was SO excited to meet her! I got to see new fabric collections before they've been released. That was so much fun!
Well, Rhonda told her I was a Kona snob, which I am, I will admit. So the rep gave me a little 2.5" charm pack of Moda solids, she said she was going to convert me, lol.
This pack is made up of the new colors that they just released.
I'm still playing around with that one, I'll have to let you know if I've been converted later ;)
Linking up to WIP Wednesday. Wish me luck that I actually make some progress this week!

I was a Bella convert, but now I think I'm gonna be a Michael Miller Cotton Couture snob. :)
Awesome blocks! I love the wedges with that line, and the Prince Charming are so great!
It might not feel like it, but you're getting a lot done! yea! :)
Oooh, those Prince Charming blocks are gorgeous! And I'm sure the Castle Peeps quilt will come together great. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
I think you made the right decision scrapping those Castle Peep blocks, the wedges look much better and showcase the lovely prints more! Now the Prince Charming...those are FANTASTIC! Love it!
The blocks with the Prince Charming are lovely. I look forward to seeing what you settle on with the wedges, there are a lot of options. And the solid colours are very nice, I mostly work with Konas too.
My cutting table is right inside the doorway to my sewing room so it becomes the depository for things that have made their way to the room but not to their proper homes yet! Like the enormous book my mum gave last weekend and my new art journal - things that have never been here before so don't have a home to go to (yet)!
